Joined Forces

Kelly and Commodore joined forces and combined their talents for IT, business management, and outstanding customer service to pursue their dream of building a business together.  The COVID-19 pandemic provided Kelly and Commodore with the unique opportunity to move to Bellingham to provide a better home and living environment for themselves and their small family while offering an essential service to the small businesses of Whatcom and Skagit counties.  Thus, Summit IT Solutions was born.

When they aren’t working, Kelly and Commodore enjoy hiking, running, backpacking, sea kayaking, reading, and cooking together.  They share their home and many adventures with their precocious daughter and two pampered dogs.

History

Commodore Patrick

Commodore began his career managing the Unix based Global Commanding Control System as a Force Deployment Planning & Execution NCO in the Marine Corps.  Following his service in the Marine Corps, Commodore decided upon IT as his career choice, working for Intel and a number of managed service providers (MSP’s) in the Portland area over the course of 20 years.

Though he enjoyed his career, he felt there was room for improvement in the relationship between his employers and their clients.  He dreamt of starting his own IT consulting firm with a goal of providing personalized IT services and exceptional customer service.  Originally from SW Washington, Commodore first experienced Bellingham during a visit home with Kelly and instantly fell in love with the area’s stunning natural beauty and the values of the Bellingham community.

Kelly Patrick

Following graduation from the University of Puget Sound, Kelly found herself to be tired of school.  A consummate gear head, she chose to begin a career with REI rather than continue on with graduate school as she initially planned.  Over the course of 10 years with the co-op, she worked her way up to a position managing a staff of nearly 100 employees.  While visiting family, Kelly fell in love with the community of Bellingham and chose to move to the area rather than continue to climb the corporate ladder.  While in Bellingham, she managed two small locally owned businesses for 7 years and obtained her certification as a professional sea kayak instructor in order to share her love for the glorious natural ecology of this unique area.

After moving to southern Washington for promising job in healthcare, Kelly met a charming man (Commodore) with a passion for IT and a dream to establish his own business.  Kelly found herself yearning for life balance and a new challenge in her career.

The Supervisors

Hank & Robie

Hank (aka Bubba) and Robie (aka Captain Distracto) spend their weekdays supervising Kelly and Commodore in the office, ensuring that their parents take bathroom breaks, eat snacks, and remember to go for long walks in the sunshine (or rain).  Each have a bed in the office under the desks, but still manage to take up the entire office floor on a regular basis.  When not hard at work, Hank enjoys going out….then in…then out…then in again, collecting shoes, running zoomie figure eights, squeaking stuffies, and following Kelly so closely everywhere she goes that he runs into her when she stops moving.

Robie enjoys going in and out with Hank, chasing tennis balls, begging for tuna (when available), playing tug with soft blankies, barking at his own shadow, and cuddling.  Kelly and Commodore both credit “the boys” with getting them through the toughest days and making the best days even better.  Hank and Robie are an essential part of the Summit IT Solutions team and help make Summit IT everything that it is.
